Jatoba: Luxury Japanese Cuisine

Good morning!

It’s Thursday, which means the weekend is almost here, thank god! For me, this week was very busy with lots of school work to hand in and some studying to do. I’m looking forward to this weekend even though I’ll be spending a lot of time doing school work as well. You might be wondering what new place you could try out this weekend. Well, you should definitely try out Jatoba, a luxury japanese cuisine restaurant. It offers healthy dishes with a vibrant atmosphere. Here is my report of my experience at this restaurant!

An elegant Japanese cuisine is offered right in the center of Downtown Montreal near Square Phillips. This place is a little jewel where you’ll leave wanting to come back and try some more of their unique and absolutely delicious dishes. You’ll often find celebrities sitting at tables near you. What I love to do at this lovely place is share dishes among people so we can taste different meals!

The terrace is so beautiful! It looks like a beautiful chic covered garden and it has a nice ambiance. Inside the restaurant it is pretty lovely too. You can also eat at the bar.

You should take about 2-3 plates per person and share among yourselves. The Gyoza made of pork and shrimp are simple and good to start the meal. The King Oyster Mushrooms are sooo tasty and tender! It is a good portion to share. We also took the Jatoba Salad which consists of vegetable julienne, edamame, wild rice, Thai basil, puffed rice, sesame seeds, prune and ginger vinaigrette. It was refreshing and tasty! The Black Cod served with celery root puree and sauteed vegetables melted in my mouth because it was so tender! You need to try this fish! The seared scallops with shredded fennel in rice vinegar served with sweet potato, tempura, saikyo miso and sudachi butter were very good! The sweet potato fries are a nice addition! Last but not least, we tried the Duck Confit fried rice which was my favorite dish of all! I would eat that all the time! The duck confit is tender and very tasty and it is the perfect fancy touch to this fantastic rice. A must!

The wine list is large and they serve a variety of cocktails too. There are bottles of Veuve Cliquot everywhere, part of the decoration!
